WEST AKRON: Burglaries were reported in the following locations: the 1000 block of Roslyn Avenue between Jan. 1 and Feb. 6; the 600 block of Crosby Street Jan. 31; the 1000 block of Amelia Avenue between Jan. 31 and Feb. 1; the 200 block of Goodhue Drive Feb. 1; the first block of Neal Court Feb. 3; the 600 block of Crosby Street Feb. 4; the 1300 block of Weathervane Lane Feb. 5; the 1000 block of Delia Avenue between Feb. 5 and 6; and the 1700 block of Treetop Trail Feb. 6.
A landlord attempting to collect rent on Wildwood Avenue was knocked down and her purse was stolen Feb. 1. The 63-year-old female victim went to her rental property in the 200 block of Wildwood Avenue to collect the rent from her tenants. As she got out of her car, she was approached by a 14-year-old male. The male allegedly grabbed the victim’s purse. After a brief struggle, the shoulder strap on the purse broke, and the victim fell on the ground. The suspect ran northbound on Wildwood Avenue with the purse. Responding officers found the suspect on West Exchange Street a few minutes later and arrested him. He was charged with robbery and placed in the custody of the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.
On Feb. 3 around 9:20 p.m., officers investigated a suspicious vehicle at a gas station in the 1600 block of Copley Road. Baggies of marijuana, as well as an open bottle of vodka, were recovered from the vehicle. A West Akron man, who had $323 on his person, was arrested for trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
A vehicle traveling 20 mph over the speed limit in the 600 block of West Exchange Street Feb. 4 shortly after 10 p.m. was pulled over by officers. A rifle was recovered from the vehicle. The driver, a Doylestown man, was arrested for OVI, attempted drug abuse, having weapons while under disability and several traffic violations.
Two victims reported being robbed Feb. 6 in the 700 block of Work Drive. They reported they were sitting in a vehicle in a driveway when two suspects approached from each side. One pumped a shotgun. The victims threw a total of $80 cash out the windows, and the suspects disappeared into backyards. They are described as black males wearing black clothing and black ski masks.
