Kjeldgaard powers Canada past US

The Milwaukee prospect homered, doubled and drove in four runs Sunday as Canada shut down the United States, 6-1, at the IBAF World Cup in Panama.

A 2005 35th-round Draft pick, Kjeldgaard hit .270 with 24 homers and 76 RBIs in 126 games between Class A Advanced Brevard County and Double-A Huntsville. He put Canada in front with three-run homer in the third inning, then doubled home an insurance run in the ninth.

Padres outfield prospect Matt Clark drove in the lone run for Team USA, drilling a solo homer in the seventh. Cubs top prospect Brett Jackson was the only U.S. player with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 out of the leadoff spot.

Major League veteran Shawn Hill (2-0) earned the win after allowing one run on three hits over 6 1/3 innings. He struck out four and walked one.
