Oneal Garnes may make Reading Town debut in cup

Reading Town could give a first-team debut to goalkeeper Oneal Garnes in their Bluefin Insurance Brokers Cup first-round tie against Abingdon United Res at Scours Lane tomorrow (3pm kick-off).

“He’s certainly in contention,” said player-manager Mark Bartley.

“I am thinking of making a few changes, as several players have been pushing for a start.”

Garnes joined Town from Woodley, having been one of the best keepers in the Hellenic League Division 1 East last season.

Another former Woodley player, midfielder Chris Hatton, could also play, along with Jamie Piercy and Dave Stevens, who has recovered from injury.

Former Abingdon United striker Graham Lewis, who has been on the bench for the last two games, could make Town’s starting line-up.

Injuries rule out Graham Sims, Michael Bartley, Scott Newton, Matty David and Jordan Cousineau.

Austin Best is suspended following his sending off at Henley.

Town, unbeaten in their last seven games, return to Premier Division action on Tuesday (7.45pm) when they entertain high-scoring Oxford City Nomads.

Henley’s Paolo Cicero who was red carded against Reading Town, is banned and misses their Bluefin Insurance Cup tie at Headington Amateurs.

Bracknell Town, who crashed 7-1 at Ardley on Tuesday, have a home tie with Hook Norton, while Newbury face Brimscombe at home.

In the Premier Division, Binfield entertain Kidlington tomorrow, while Wokingham & Embrook travel to Slimbridge and Ascot United go to Witney United.

Binfield are also at home on Monday evening, this time to Hook Norton in the second round of the AM Print & Copy Floodlit Cup.

Highmoor Ibis will be looking to maintain their improved form when they meet Maidenhead United Res in the Hellenic Division 1 East tomorrow.

Woodley Town host Thatcham Res, while Finchampstead are at home to Lambourn Sports.

Marlow FM wins battle to stay on airwaves - Maidenhead Advertiser

Radio station Marlow FM has won its battled to stay on the airwaves after its retrospective planning application was approved last night.

The Royal Borough's Cllr Richard Kellaway (Con, Bisham and Cookham), who called in the application to the development control panel, said he now found the location at Longridge to be 'quite suitable'.

The station will now continue to broadcast on 97.5FM

Elsewhere, a controversial application to demolish and rebuild a house in School Lane, Cookham, was given the green light despite concerns it would have a negative effect on the Cookham High Street Conservation Area.

The council also approved the building of 12 allotments with parking, public space and horse paddock on an area of greenbelt on the north side of Ray Mill Road West - under the condition that a screening was placed on the eastern boundary.
