Brianna Bermingham's goal in the fourth minute stood as Aptos High's girls soccer team defeated host Santa Cruz 1-0 in a Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League game at Depot Park on Tuesday.
Bermingham scored the goal unassisted on a hard shot from about 20 yards out. Both teams' goalkeepers saw plenty of action, though. Courtney Rogers made 10 saves in 80 minutes of play for Aptos [10-2-1, 4-1-1], an effort matched by the keeper for Santa Cruz [8-3-2, 2-2-2].
Aptos faces another tough SCCAL challenge on Jan. 31, when it plays at Soquel at 6 p.m.
Freshman Aileigh Boynton broke a scoreless stalemate in the 65th minute and San Lorenzo Valley notched its first SCCAL victory, 2-0, over winless St. Francis.
Boynton scored on an assist from fellow rookie Maia Graff and also added the insurance goal in the 70th minute off a pass from sophonore Marlee Amos.
McKenna Maness stopped two shots in goal for SLV [5-8-1, 1-5-0]. The Cougars host Harbor on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

Emma Sasso had a hat trick and China Armstrong added three assists as Pacific Collegiate School ran over visiting Trinity, 10-0 in a Coastal Athletic League match.
Sasso scored on Armstrong assists in the 25th and 57th minutes and scored off an Ann Thiemann pass in the 63rd. Armstrong also assisted the first goal of the match, scored by Ella Madsen in the eighth minute.
Michaela Gwiazda, Lauren Yen, Alyssa Gomes, Melissa Toorani, Nicole Trenchard and Mali Bertschi-Berkowitz also scored for PCS [ 6-3, 5-0].
The Pumas play at Marina at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in another CAL game.

Santa Cruz native Caroline Chan scored three goals for York and keeper Halsey O'Laughlin, also from Santa Cruz, made 15 saves.

We are interested in serious candidates that have a Class B commercial license and meet all or at least most of the following qualifications. Exceptional candidates will be considered for training, but this could take 2-6 weeks depending on DMV appointment availability.

- Compensation: is on a per trip basis: Yosemite Tours $ 155 to $ 280 (DOE and on number of passengers) plus up to $ 15 reimbursement for meals plus tips*; Muir Woods & Wine Country Tours $ 100 to $ 160 (DOE and on number of passengers) plus tips*. Drivers may also qualify for monthly customer service and annual bonuses. * Tips vary depending on tour type, number of passengers and other factors but should average $ 50 to $ 100 for Van Tours and $ 100 to $ 200 for Bus Tours.
